Haddington Library

Welcome to the East Lothian Local History Centre. We’re based in Haddington but hold records relating to the whole of East Lothian – from Dirleton to Whittingehame, from Musselburgh to Oldhamstocks.

Whether you're doing family history research, writing a local history book or want to find out who once lived in your house we should be the first place you visit.

We don’t promise that we have the answer to every question, but our collection is the best place to try and find it.

Our  calendar is now available to buy and is packed full of local history images.

Enquiries
If you are unable to visit Haddington in person, we accept postal, telephone or email enquiries. We do not have time to undertake in-depth research but will gladly check sources if enough information is given. We operate a queuing system as we receive a high level of enquiries, so please be patient if you do not receive a reply immediately.
