East Lothian parishes
Map of East Lothian parishes

East Lothian is a region with a rich, diverse history. Stretching from the mining parishes of Tranent and Prestonpans, and industrial Musselburgh in the west to the fishing community of Dunbar in the east, from the tourist resort of North Berwick on the Firth of Forth to the farming lands of Garvald and Whittingehame on the border with Berwickshire.

It has played host to many great battles - Pinkie, Dunbar, Prestonpans. Some of Scotland's most eminent people were born here - John Knox, Samuel Smiles, John Muir - as a great number of less well known, but equally interesting, ones.

And as an added bonus East Lothian is home to one of the most beautiful landscapes imagineable.
