Freedom of Information - It's Public Knowledge
Your Rights to Information - The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 came into force on 1 January 2005. The Act allows anyone to obtain information from Scottish Councils and other public authorities. This is a legal right which aims to ensure that everyone gets information to which they are entitled.
This legal right of access includes all types of 'recorded' information of any date held by East Lothian Council. From 2005, any person making a request for information must be provided with it, subject to certain conditions.
East Lothian Council recognises the public interest in the information it holds. It is the Council's aim to be open and transparent, and to fully meet its obligations on Freedom of Information.
