Dunbar Town House Museum
Band of Brothers - 250 Years of Lodge Dunbar Castle - June 2008 - May 2009
The Band of Brothers exhibition is the latest exhibition at Dunbar Town House Museum in its seasonal programme of local topics.
Using the 250 year anniversary of Lodge Dunbar Castle, the exhibition focuses on the historical impact that the freemason movement has had in Dunbar. It explores the history and myths surrounding such societies as well as the social environment that caused people to come together in friendly societies. The materials within the exhibition consider the social and economic history of Dunbar, as well as depicting important landmarks in the town's development, such as the creation of Dunbar Harbour. The Freemasons are widely known as a 'society with secrets' so this is an unusual opportunity to find out more about the organisation and its history in Dunbar.
Prestongrange Museum
Time Detectives - 29 March - 31 October 2008
Over two years, with a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, a team of local volunteers have been working alongside professional archaeologists to uncover just some of the important archaeological remains at Prestongrange which still survive sealed beneath the ground. This exhibition shows the findings of this project and features work by the Young Archaeologists' Club.
