Licensing

East Lothian Council believes that all captive, domestic and wild animals require appropriate conditions for their health and welfare.

The Food & Safety Team carries out both routine inspections and licensing inspections of pet shops, horse-riding establishments, dog breeding establishments, etc. In addition, the team can call on the services of an experienced veterinary surgeon when required.

In addition to animal establishment licensing, the team are involved in reporting on applications for Street Traders License, Places for Public Entertainment License, Occasional Liquor License, etc which are administered by the District Court and Licensing Division.

Reports are also requested by East Lothian Council Licensing Board in relation to premises requiring a Liquor License or a Betting Shop License.
