East Lothian Council Signs SEE ME anti stigma pledge

To mark mental health week Alan Blackie (Chief Executive) & Roger Knox (Depute Provost) will sign the following pledge on behalf of East Lothian Council.

“We, the undersigned, are committed to work as part of the 'see me…' campaign to challenge the stigma associated with mental ill-health, and to eliminate the discrimination experienced by people with mental health problems.”

The signing of the Pledge will take place at a short ceremony at Port Seton Community Centre on October 6th in the presence of Suzi Vestri Campaign Director of See Me, and representatives from local health and voluntary sector services. Also present will be other East Lothian employers that are signing up to the pledge including Torness power station, East Lothian Housing Association and the MS Society.

The healthy working lives team of East Lothian Council have developed an action plan to promote the work of See Me to council staff and raise the awareness of mental health issues.

See Me Scotland is launching a new publicity campaign which emphasises the role we can all play in making a difference for someone is experiencing mental health problems. Look out for the posters or visit www.seemescotland.org for more information
