Youth Vision Launched

Youthvision, East Lothian’s Youth Strategy, was launched with a roar as motorcyclists from the Bridge Centre Motorcycle Project took to the stage at Musselburgh East Community Learning Centre on Thursday 30th October. The launch provided a vibrant mix of music, dance, sport and art showcasing the diverse interests and skills of young people from across East Lothian.

East Lothian Council embarked on a series of consultation events to garner the views of young people across the county. More than 26% of the population in East Lothian are under the age of 21 and the youthvision provides a framework for identifying and addressing the needs of young people.

Councillor Ruth Currie, East Lothian’s Champion for Youth, explained: “East Lothian Council is committed to work with its partners and to engage closely with young people to develop services which will improve young people’s quality of life. Working with young people within their communities is recognised as a key means of securing a smarter, wealthier and fairer, healthier, greener, safer and stronger society. I would like to thank all the young people who took part and I am determined that the findings of youthvision will be used in future council plans.”

Further details of youthvision East Lothian can be found on the website www.youthvisionel.net or in the youthvision leaflet
