East Lothian Children's Panel Advisory Committee - Chairperson wanted

The Children's Panel Advisory Committee is the body which has responsibility for recruiting, selecting and monitoring members of the Children's Panel. The Committee is made up of the Chair, four Scottish Ministerial appointments and two local authority appointments. The Chair must be resident within the East Lothian area.

New Panel members are normally recruited on an annual basis, with the Children's Panel Advisory Committee being responsible for organising this recruitment. The Advisory Committee is also expected to monitor Panel members on a regular basis, deal with the re-appointment of existing Panel members and have an input into any legislative changes to the Children's Hearings System. As Chair, you would take part in regular meetings of the national grouping of Advisory Committees, and the local Lothian and Borders grouping.

Meetings of the Advisory Committee are usually held on a monthly basis in the evening; other meetings are held during the day requiring some daytime availability. The post is voluntary but expenses are paid.

Further information and an application pack can be obtained from Allison Cosgrove, Clerk to the Advisory Committee, East Lothian Council, John Muir House, Haddington, EH41 3HA. Tel. 01620 827246; e-mail: acosgrove@eastlothian.gov.uk
